What is an electric blanket?
So an electric blanket is a handy tool to help you stay warm during the cold winter months. It is a blanket that you can heat on the wiring to be nice and warm. The wiring comes with a controller that allows you to set the temperature, so you will always be nice and warm. Moreover, our electric blanket is also equipped with an automatic safety feature, so it switches off automatically after a maximum of 3 hours. So you also avoid wasting energy and you can be sure that you always use the blanket safely.

So how much energy does an electric blanket consume?
Before you bring an electric blanket into your home to save energy, you’ll want to know what you can then save compared to your regular heating. Today’s electric blankets are considerably more durable and better quality than they used to be, and if you handle your heating blanket properly, you can enjoy it for up to 10 years.

On average, a 120-watt heating blanket consumes 0.12 kwh per hour. At this time (December), you pay around € 0.89 cents per Kwh (per hour).
Suppose you leave the electric blanket on for 4 hours in a day. Then we make a calculation of:
0.12 kwh x 4 hours = 0.48 kWh and then €0.89 x 0.48 kWh = 0.43 cents per 4 hours in electricity costs.

So you are many times cheaper than having all that stove heating the whole house. These days, you pay almost €3 for a cubic metre of gas and, according to Milieucentraal, an average household consumes 1,239 cubic metres of gas a year. About 80% goes on heating your home. Suppose you have the heater on for 6 months a year, you come up with the following calculation:
1239 x 0.8 x €3 = €2963.60 a year!
