Why doesn’t my electric blanket feel equally warm everywhere?

Our electric heated blankets are designed for comfortable, safe warmth—not for high temperatures. Many people expect the blanket to feel as warm as, for example, a hot water bottle or an electric heater, but that’s not the case.

An electric blanket reaches a maximum temperature of around 40 to 45 degrees Celsius. This is deliberately set: this temperature is safe for long-term use, prevents overheating, and is just enough to stay comfortably warm, especially when you’re lying under the blanket.

Uneven heat distribution

Some parts of the blanket may feel slightly warmer than others. This is usually due to one of the following reasons:

  • The heating wires run in strips through the blanket, which means that the heat is not distributed exactly evenly everywhere.

  • When the blanket is folded or doubled, the heat is retained better in the area and it can feel warmer there.

  • The perceived temperature varies from person to person; what feels lukewarm to one person may feel pleasantly warm to another.

Important to know

  • The blanket is not intended to heat, but to provide a constant, soft warmth.

  • Always use the blanket unfolded and flat for even heat distribution.

  • A temperature of 40–45°C is completely normal and complies with the safety standards for electric heated blankets.

If you feel like your blanket isn’t working, try laying it completely flat and running it on the highest setting for about 10 to 15 minutes. You’ll notice the blanket warms up gently and stays comfortably warm.
